Poznań's most precious historic landmark is gearing up to welcome visitors once again. Following a lengthy renovation lasting over four years, Poznań's Town Hall is finally reopening. Polish music from the era of the Polish People's Republic (commonly referred to by the Polish abbreviation PRL) means different things for different people. For some, it is predominantly punk tunes from the Jarocin festival, for others it's the rock hits of the band Perfect, for others yet the classic hits of the 1960s and "70s. And although decades have elapsed since their creation, these tunes haven't lost a bit of their original freshness and energy. You can see this first-hand at the Poznański Chór Projektowy's concert where, backed by outstanding musicians, they will play The Best of PRL concert at Aula Artis.

Theatrical performances, film screenings, creative workshops and even a dance to the sounds of traditional instruments - all this awaits children during the first winter holiday weekend. There will also be plenty of attractions for older residents of Poznań. Adults will be able to go to a concert, theatre or even take part in a rococo seduction course.

Among his many impressive accomplishments, David Cross is best known for playing with one of the most prominent rock bands ever, King Crimson, from 1972 to 1974. This English violinist, keyboardist, and composer is set to visit Poznań to mark the 50th anniversary of recording a legendary album by this iconic group.

Next year, the Poznań CityLab will open in the capital of Wielkopolska. It is a city innovation laboratory where projects based on artificial intelligence or machine learning will be developed. The Wielki Theatre is starting its first post-renovation season with two festivals, one of which, the Moniuszko Festival, already took place in the autumn, with the other, the Early Spring Ballet festival, having been scheduled for February.

It promises to be a very concert-packed weekend. Listeners of almost all musical genres will find something for themselves - from pop, through blues, jazz, hip hop, heavy sounds, to classical music. You will be able to listen to stars from the 1980s, such as Halina Frąckowiak, artists currently reigning supreme on the charts and with millions of views on YouTube - such as Ralph Kaminski, but also recognised names on the international scene - such as Tom Skinner.

A walk through the swamps, the mysteries of the Dutch masters of painting, "Mr Kleks' Academy" from 40 years ago, as well as concerts by Richard Bona and Varius Manx - the first weekend in February promises to be exceptionally interesting in Poznań. As usual, there will also be plenty of interesting performances and carnival events.

The Amadeus Chamber Orchestra is set to kick off the year with a bang. Come the first Sunday of February, the outstanding British pianist and composer Jonathan Powell will team up with the Orchestra in the Adam Mickiewicz University Auditorium.
