Weekend in Poznan

Theatrical performances, film screenings, creative workshops and even a dance to the sounds of traditional instruments - all this awaits children during the first winter holiday weekend. There will also be plenty of attractions for older residents of Poznań. Adults will be able to go to a concert, theatre or even take part in a rococo seduction course.

Dance party with traditional bands

As part of the Winter in the Castle action, the youngest will be able to play to the sounds of violins, bagpipes, cello, drum, accordion and other traditional instruments. They will also learn forgotten Wielkopolska dances and games. The "Kukaj Kukawko" and "Piotr i Paweł" bands will play for the children.

Private clinic (Prywatna klinika)

"Private Clinic" is a madcap farce in which the humour unfolds right up to the final scene. The plot centres around Harriet, a divorcee living in a posh flat in Brighton, who solves her financial problems with the support of two married gentlemen and a perfectly organised calendar. The play can be seen at the Artis Auditorium.

Nicolaus Copernicus in the library

Those who want to find out more about Poland's most famous astronomer can come to the Raczyński Library. On Friday, the opening of an exhibition entitled. 'Astronomy and Books. Around 'De revolutionibus' by Nicolaus Copernicus'. The exhibition will show volumes of three editions of the work, including the first Nuremberg edition from 1543. The remainder of the exhibition will feature pre- and post-Copernican publications. Incunabula and old prints will be on view, including works by authors such as Ptolemy, Galileo and Hevelius.

Metal party at Pod Minogą

The national qualifiers for the most important metal festival in the British Isles have also reached Poznań this year. One of the competition concerts of the Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses series will take place on Friday at the Pod Minoga club. Anthimos Apostolis Quartet concert

Anthimos Apostolis is an undisputed legend of Polish music. He has been on stage for more than fifty years, regularly recording and performing all over the world. The Hague at the Polish Theatre

Ten convicted top Russian leaders spend time in a Dutch prison, wondering who to blame for the war in Ukraine. The trial begins and one by one the criminals lose their temper. This is the axis of the plot of the play The Hague, which you can attend at the Polish Theatre. In this play, comedy, in which yesterday's rulers of the world become ridiculous and pathetic, is intertwined with tragedy in an unusual way. The play can also be seen on Saturday and Sunday.

Mud at the Blue Note

On 7 February 1974, Jay Dee was born. He would have celebrated a round 50th birthday in 2024. Unfortunately, illness took him too soon just 18 years ago. Since 10 February 2006, the hip-hop community has always gone through this period in the same way, cultivating the innovator's work collectively. This time it will be done by the band Mud at the Blue Note, reinterpreting the master's beats in a quartet.

Club Monstarrrs in the Pavilion

Orkgotik, star of season 5 of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula (an American TV series based on a reality show) will perform at the Pavilion. Using inspiration taken from films and handmade prosthetics, Orkgotik creates terrifying characters. His creativity and amazing performances have earned him recognition overseas.

Rococo seduction course

Those who want to take the art of flirting to a whole new level, but lack inspiration, can come to the Museum of Applied Arts in the Royal Castle and learn about the Rococo school of seduction. There they will learn that the 18th-century language of bow ties and fans will also work perfectly when celebrating this year's Valentine's Day, and that romantic communication can take place without touch or words. The meeting is a paired workshop.

A journey not of this earth

"3.. 2.. 1.. Take off! Fly with us into space and come face to face with your dreams". - encourage the organisers of the show "A journey not of this earth", which will be on show at the Animation Theatre. It is an adventure full of emotions, with a pinch of astronomical trivia and an existential background. A mole digging in the ground, a moth dreaming of a close encounter with the sun, a long-lived tortoise and a child in a rocket as punishment will embark on a fascinating expedition.

Winter in the Castle - theatrical performance

The play is set in an unusual setting: the known world does not exist, having failed to save it from a climatic catastrophe. In their workshop, two brilliant inventors - Nielemka and Lemtak - reminisce about the glory days when they created robots to save the world from extinction. What went wrong and is all lost for sure? JazZamek

Temptation, or the trio Natan Kryszk (baritone saxophone), Tymek Bryndal (bass), Teo Olter (drums), has existed since 2012. A year later, the musicians released their first album ('Zero'). Their third CD, "D.W.A." recorded in the summer of 2020, was released in 2021. On it, the artists draw on new inspirations and dissect more music in their own way.

Children's performance and puppet workshop

Barnaby Theatre is a marionette theatre, founded in 2014. In Poznań, children will be able to see a performance by this group - 'Knight without a horse'. Is such a situation even possible? Will the main character of the play find an animal? The audience of the performance will find out the answers to these questions. Five puppets will allow the theoretical knowledge to be put into practice, and anyone willing will be able to try their hand at it on stage. The play is intended for children aged 3 and over.

Songs by Radiohead

Out of his love for Radiohead songs, Bartek Wąsik has created surprising versions of them. "Daydreamer" is twelve original arrangements of songs by the band Radiohead for solo piano. Bartek Wąsik is a pianist, composer, winner of many international competitions and non-musical awards, including the Passport of Polityka and the Fryderyk phonographic award.

A show for the youngest

The colourful balls appearing on stage become an excuse to play together, but also to search for the connection between emotions. The actresses of the Blum Theatre enter the world of children's sensitivity and propose a very simple play - full of colours, sounds, movement and joy.
