1. Definition of public consultation
Public consultation is a dialogue with inhabitants whose goal is to gain their opinion about matters important for the district or the city. Outcome of the consultation is greater knowledge of officials about how inhabitants see the matter.
2. The main aim of public consultations
Purpose of public consultation is:
a) to provide local community with complete and reliable information on the matter under consultation
b) to get to know the opinion of inhabitants about consulted matter, to allow them to express their opinions and to receive a feedback
c) to achive higher efficiency and accuracy of desicion-making planning
d) to gain social understanding and acceptance of offered solutions
e) study of social moods and the diagnosis of potential conflict situations
f) to inclusion of inhabitatnts in management of the municipality and to activate them in terms of spatial policy
g) to raise awareness of people about the activities of the institution planning and realizing the project
h) to reduce the social costs of decisions
i) to spread the idea of public consultations in other areas of social life
j) to increase the quality of decisions
